For almost 2 decades, Dash and Celeste were inside their own groups. Dash and Celeste often attended the same events but because they knew different people, they never interacted.

Dash and Celeste met in 2009, when they were 19 years old. They met through two different social groups from NYC. Celeste was in college in Massachusetts and Dash lived in Manhattan. They met through a mutual friend, and became fast friends after Dash messaged Celeste on Facebook messenger.

They found they had a lot in common - interest in books, video games, Tom Jones, and a similar way of looking at the world. Through 3 years of friendship, they learned that their ways of looking at the world were complementary - sharing stories, thoughts, and experiences helped them reappraise and rebuild the lens they took to themselves, their experiences, and their relationships with others.

That’s the mutual appreciation society: when we take stock of our values, we value each other, making our individual and mutual value appreciate.

Dash and Celeste started dating in 2011, when they were 21. They have been dating for the past 10 years - having a 10 year long conversation about those same interests, experiences, relationships, and Tom Jones; constantly reappraising, rebuilding, and reaffirming the lens they use to see each other and the world around them.
